In McCain's home state of Arizona, Gov. Jan Brewer has also asked for troops. In light of those requests "and the continued escalation …

A decorated combat veteran. A conservative Republican right before Ronald Reagan burst onto the scene. And the Texas Legislature’s fiercest opponent of illegal immigration. That’s Leo Berman, a 10-year member of the Texas House, representing Tyler, and a former member of the Arlington City Council. A strong foe of illegal immigration, Berman, 73, has eight bills aimed at discouraging people from coming to the United States, or at least Texas, illegally. His legislation spells out a tough stance, seeking to stamp out illegal immigration through several means.

Hiding from Robin Hood Means Other Texans Will Have to Pay
Source: www.texasrepublicnews.com, Brent Bullock, 4/3/09
There are those who like Robin Hood, and those that don't. Some see theft from the rich as a path to equality. We're seeing more and more "economic justice" in our nation. I'm still looking for the "just" part of it. Texas is notorious for its Robin Hood school funding system. Property rich school districts have to pay the state, so the state can re-distribute the wealth to the property poor districts.

State-mandated divorce counseling would be too little, too late for most
Source: www.dallasnews.com, Jacquielynn Floyd, Friday, April 3, 2009
How's your marriage? No, seriously, because if you're not feeling the love, a man from Pampa wants to help you. More specifically, he wants the government to help you. The man is state Rep. Warren Chisum, R-Pampa, the government is the state of Texas, and the "help" is a particularly officious brand of interference in your private affairs.

Half-Pure Religion and the Unpopularity of the Poor
Source: www.christianstandard.com, Mark E. Moore, 4/5/2009
Jesus’ half-brother asserted, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world” (James 1:27). A cursory glance at the Gospels suggests that Jesus would agree with his sibling. After all, he spent as much time doing good as he did teaching us about being good.
