Another Huge Spending Bill Planned For Next Week
Source: www.HumanEvents.com, Connie Hair, 02/20/2009
Here we go again! House Republicans are bracing for another onslaught of out-of-control Democrat-authored spending as the omnibus bill is expected to hit the floor of the House as early as next week. And it’ll be yet another spending bill House Republicans and the American people have not yet been allowed to see and the Democrats haven’t even bothered to read. As if the $1.2 trillion Democrats spent on “stimulus” last week wasn’t enough of a disaster, this colossal bill encompasses the remaining nine appropriations bills for fiscal year 2009 sloughed off by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

WASHINGTON (AP) - Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Wednesday again spurned speculation that the government may nationalize Citigroup or other big banks.
When asked about Citigroup during a House Financial Services Committee hearing, Bernanke said nationalization "is when the government seizes the bank and zeros out the shareholders and begins to manage and run the bank. And, we don't plan anything like that."
Rebel Yell: Taxpayers Revolt Against Gimme-Mania
Source: www.cnsnews.com, Fri., Feb. 20, 2009, Michelle Malkin
There’s something in the air. It’s the smell of roasted pork. President Obama heralded the signing of the trillion-dollar “stimulus” bill in Denver and promoted his massive mortgage entitlement expansion in Mesa, Ariz., at tightly controlled campaign events. But outside the Secret Service perimeters, a raucous grassroots rebellion against Beltway spending binges has caught fire. The new Boston Tea Party is here, baby, and it’s doused in barbecue sauce.
RELIGION
Premillennialism and Politics Don't Mix
Source: www.americanvision.org, Gary DeMar, 2/24/2009
What is so troubling about Christian involvement in politics? Christians like John MacArthur, Cal Thomas, and Ed Dobson have written on the subject. MacArthur’s Why Government Can’t Save You includes the following subtitle: An Alternative to Political Activism. While MacArthur does not “believe we should remove ourselves from the political process,” he does object to “the prevailing mindset that makes political and social activism the primary business of Christianity and reduces faith in Christ to just another political force.”
Dissing Discpleship
Source: www.ministrytodaymag.com, Jack Hayford, Feb. 24, 2009
A contemporary “weigh in” on an ancient value. First, knowing so many ministry-types serve Jesus' goals, I don't want to seem unduly critical of any in addressing a concern. If you're a dedicated servant-leader, I'm on your side! But I want to bluntly talk about the lessened "weight" being given today to Jesus' strategy for advancing His church. He said, "Go—make disciples!"—and this foundational call is increasingly being "dissed."

Senator to 'gay' lawmakers: 'Homosexuality is a sin'
Activists blast state legislator for citing Scripture against same-sex unions
Source: WorldNetDaily, Chelsea Schilling, February 25, 2009
When Colorado's Legislature considered granting benefits to same-sex partners, one lawmaker took a stand, calling homosexuality an "abomination" and a sin the government should not condone – and now "gay" activists have countered with a full-fledged attack. Sen. Scott Renfroe, R-Greeley, stood before the state Senate Feb. 23 just before it passed SB 88, a bill granting insurance benefits to homosexual partners of state employees. He read scripture to lawmakers – including the bill's openly "gay" sponsors, Democrats Sen. Jennifer Veiga and Rep. Mark Ferrandino.
